Driver arrested after deadly crash in Kent, WA

Kent police are investigating a deadly crash early Thursday morning. 

What we know:

The crash happened at about 2:30 a.m. on Pacific Highway South and South 240th Street in Kent. 

According to investigators, a 39-year-old man was seen crossing Pacific Highway South outside a crosswalk when he was hit by a silver SUV. 

Medics performed life-saving measures on the pedestrian, but he died from his injuries at the scene. 

According to police, officers were told by witnesses the driver of the SUV fled the scene, but the vehicle was located by Des Moines police officers near 20th Avenue South. 

The vehicle had damage to the front, and inside was the driver and three passengers. 

Police said the passengers, ages 26, 30 and 35 were from Federal Way, cooperated with the investigation. The driver, a 32-year-old Seattle man, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide. 

Investigators said it is not known if intoxication was a factor in the crash. 

Police are still investigating what led up to the crash.
